
The commitment of Sigdo Koppers to its employees, the environment and the communities
in which it does business is one of the strategic pillars of the Company. Entrepreneurial Social Responsibility (ESR) is a relevant factor in the different activities and work in which the group’s companies engage every day.
Sigdo Koppers tries to impress the values promoted by the company upon each of its subsidiaries. Those values include using the best ethical and business practices, transparency in management, respect for individuals, fair treatment of employees, customers and suppliers, capturing and motivating the best human capital, reducing the environmental impact in its activities and supporting the socioeconomic development of the communities where it does business.
As part of this policy, since 2006 Sigdo Koppers has adhered to the United Nations Global Compact in Chile through which it commits to fulfilling and promoting 10 principles of conduct and action in connection with human rights, labor relations, the environment and the fight against corruption.
Each subsidiary of Sigdo Koppers determines how it will implement these values, taking into account the characteristics and needs of its environment and the community surrounding it.
Our Employees
Human capital is a key aspect in the global development of the company. To that end, each of the group’s companies conducts different activities to improve the quality of life of employees and their families. Those activities are concentrated mainly in the areas of training, occupational health and safety, quality of life and benefits.
Training is a fundamental aspect in the management of companies. Throughout its history, Sigdo Koppers has been concerned with training its workers on an ongoing basis in order to contribute to their personal and professional development and create a good organizational climate.Along hese lines, in 2007 the subsidiary SK Capacitación was created to develop training plans inside thegroup.

Support to the Community
Among the activities aimed at supporting communities where each of the company’s enterprises does business is the alliance with “Acción Emprendedora” (Entrepreneurial Action), a non-profit organization dedicated to training, technical assistance and support in obtaining financing for microentrepreneurs in zones with a high social impact.
An annual contribution plan is also implemented each year, mainly geared towards culture,education and investigation. It coordinates the contributions of the different subsidiaries with areas of interest and corporate values.

Environmental Responsibility
Sigdo Koppers maintains a firm commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.
For this reason, an important number of the group’s companies are certified according to ISO 14,000, which regulates the environmental management system. The companies conduct controls of raw materials, comply with the provisions on the handling of hazardous substances, and make investments to improve the environmental conditions at their production plants. The carbon emission project implemented by Enaex can also be highlighted, which is the largest of its type in Chile.
