Sigdo Koppers acquires 55% of Sabo Chile and completes its supply of grinding balls for mining and industry

Sigdo Koppers S.A.agreed to acquire 55% of Sabo Chile, a company of Spanish capital, dedicated to the production of forged grinding balls - through a capital increase of US $ 18.25 million. With this, Sigdo Koppers complements the product supply of Magotteaux for mining and industry, making it the only company worldwide to offer the full range of grinding balls (forged, castings, low and high chrome and ceramic beans).

With close to US $ 50 million in annual sales, Sabo Chile has a production plant in the city of Antofagasta, with a production capacity of 47,000 tons annually. Thus, the capital increase will increase capacity, addressing the strong development of the mining industry in the region. Of Spanish origin, until now the property of Sabo Chile was linked to Santa Ana de Bolueta group, which has 171 years of history.

The General Manager of Sigdo Koppers, Juan Pablo Aboitiz, noted that "the incorporation of Sabo Chile to Sigdo Koppers allows us to complement the value offer for our customers and consolidate our position as leading providers of grinding balls, in the entire range of products ".

Note that in last October, Sigdo Koppers closed the purchase of Magotteaux, global company, world leader in the production and sale of high chromium grinding balls used in the milling processes of the mining and cement industries. The company, of Belgian origin, owns 13 production plants in 11 countries and 38 commercial offices in 24 countries.

Sigdo Koppers defined as a strategic objective to position itself as a leading provider in the areas of services to mining and industry, establishing itself as a global firm in these areas, with a complete service to its customers. In this sense, the group has already taken important steps, both in Chile and in the region.
